The government will import sugar to provide relief to the public

Islamabad: An important meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, in which the rising prices and shortage of sugar were discussed. The meeting decided that sugar will be imported immediately to stabilize sugar prices and ensure supply.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said that due to the shortage of sugar, prices are witnessing an extraordinary increase in the market, and import has become inevitable to provide relief to the people. He further said that all formalities will be completed soon so that imported sugar can be available in the market immediately. The government will keep a close eye on sugar prices, and the monitoring system will be made effective so that illegal profiteering can be stopped.
