Contact between the Prime Minister and the PTI leadership; hope for talks increased

Islamabad: As part of his efforts to reduce the tension in the country’s political atmosphere, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for talks.

During the National Assembly session, the Prime Minister got up from his seat in an informal manner and went to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and shook his hand. According to sources, the Prime Minister said,

“Let’s sit down and talk; talks are the solution to all problems.”

Political observers say that these talks took place before the court’s decision on reserved seats, and many members present in the house witnessed this moment.

Barrister Gohar responded positively to the Prime Minister’s offer and said,

“Insha Allah.”

This informal contact is being considered a positive step towards easing the political atmosphere and an initial attempt at consensus. This offer is a welcome development after the intensity and division in the political narrative in recent days.
