Islamabad: Nepra has approved making electricity cheaper to provide relief to consumers.
According to the announcement, the basic electricity tariff will be reduced by Rs 1.15 per unit from July 1, and it will be applicable to consumers across the country.
The current rates for lifeline consumers will remain unchanged, while the new tariff for protected consumers has been set at Rs 10.54 per unit for 100 units of consumption and Rs 13.1 per unit for 200 units of consumption.
Commercial, industrial, agricultural, and bulk consumers have also been reduced by Rs 1.15 per unit.
The new tariff for commercial consumers has been fixed at Rs 45.43 per unit, for industries at Rs 33.48, and for the agricultural sector at Rs 30.75.
This decision will benefit domestic and industrial consumers to some extent in reducing inflation.
