Decision to block millions of mobile SIMs for non-renewal of identity cards

Lahore: On the recommendations of NADRA, the federal government has started the process of blocking more than 4.9 million SIMs registered on such identity cards that have not been renewed.
In the first phase, SIMs registered on identity cards that expired in 2017 will be blocked in June, while in the final phase, all remaining SIMs will be blocked by 2025.
The Ministry of Interior and PTA have appealed to citizens to renew their identity cards on time so that the service is not affected.
