PTA introduces new instant system to block stolen/lost phones

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new automated Lost & Stolen Device System (LSDS) that provides a system to block lost or stolen mobile phones within 36 hours

Under this system, citizens can apply for blocking by visiting the complaint.pta.gov.pk website or CMS mobile app and entering their mobile IMEI, CNIC, and other details. After submitting the application, a reference number is provided, and the phone is blocked after a verification process in about 24 hours.

If the lost phone is found, the user can also get it unblocked again through the same application number, after which the user will receive confirmation of the end of the block through SMS.

The mechanism of this system is integrated with the PTA’s central DIRBS (Device Identification, Registration & Blocking System), which means that the use of this phone on any Pakistani network based on the IMEI will be stopped.
The public has been advised to file a complaint as soon as possible in case of loss of any mobile phone so that their personal information and data are protected.
