FBR Clarification: Tax return messages result from technical glitches of telecom companies

FBR

The federal agency FBR has taken action after complaints surfaced that taxpayers were receiving messages in the name of government notifications to submit tax returns even after the submission date. In its latest clarification, the FBR has clarified that these messages were not sent by it.

The department said that initial investigation revealed that the relevant tax return messages were issued automatically due to a technical glitch in the telecom service providers.

Taking the situation seriously, the FBR has requested the PTA to immediately intervene and contact the relevant service providers to resolve the issue.

According to technology experts, such glitches not only affect consumer trust but also raise questions about the credibility of government agencies.
