FBR’s big move, project to convert paper bill into electronic bill launched

FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched an important project to modernize and make the goods delivery system in the country transparent, under which the traditional paper bill will be converted into electronic bill.

According to the institution, a strategic feasibility assessment and technical design agreement has been signed for this project, after which practical work on the project has begun.

According to the FBR, under this project, Cargo Tracking System (CTS) will be introduced, which will help in effectively monitoring the transportation of commercial goods.

Officials say that under the new system, a unique e-bill will be issued for each cargo shipment, which will include a QR code for instant verification.

This move will help customs officials track the movement of goods in real time and clearly differentiate between law-abiding traders and violators.

The Chairman FBR said on the occasion that this project is an important step towards establishing a digital economy in Pakistan.

He said that the government is increasing the use of modern technology to promote transparency and improve the tax system.
According to him, the new system will also reduce the chances of fake sales tax invoices and other financial irregularities.

Member Customs Operations said that the aim of this project is to reduce unnecessary hurdles and delays during the transportation of goods.

He said that most traders face difficulties due to physical checking along the way, which affects business activities.

The CTS system will provide customs officers with risk-based data that will enable them to monitor more effectively.

According to the FBR, a comprehensive technical and analytical phase has begun under the project, in which a selected consulting firm will review global best practices.

Officials say that this initiative will significantly improve Pakistan’s logistics system and help bring transit trade to global standards.

According to experts, if this project is successfully implemented, it will not only facilitate trade but can also increase government revenues.
