The government of Pakistan has reduced the prices of petrol and diesel after its regular 15-day review. From the next fortnight, i.e. December 1, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 263.45 and the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) at Rs 279.65 per litre.
The reduction has been made in light of the recommendations of OGRA. The reduction of Rs 2 per litre on petrol and Rs 4.79 per litre on diesel has given some breathing space to the public, especially those who use the fuel for daily travel or transport.
However, analysts say this is a temporary relief — as the global oil market, the value of the rupee and other economic factors may affect future prices.
