Islamabad: Bad news for those traveling on the motorway! The Motorway Police has significantly increased the toll tax, according to which 50 percent additional toll charges will be imposed on non-M-tag and low-balance vehicles from June 15, 2025.
According to the notification issued, the new toll rates for cars on various motorways are as follows:
- Islamabad to Lahore (M2): Rs 1800
- Lahore to Abdul Hakeem (M3): Rs 1200
- Pindi Bhattian to Multan (M4): Rs 1600
- Multan to Sukkur (M5): Rs 1800
- DI Khan to Hakla (M14): Rs 1000
- Hassan Abdal to Mansehra (E35): Rs 450
Similarly, the new toll from Lahore to Islamabad has been fixed at Rs 7900 for 2- and 3-axle trucks, while it is Rs 10200 for articulated trucks.
Motorway police maintain that the increase is due to rising operational costs, security measures, and road repairs. Along with this, the government aims to promote the M-tagging system and improve traffic management.
Transporters have expressed concern over the decision and have demanded that the government provide concessions for business purposes to avoid inflationary pressures.
