Positive progress in exports, remittances and manufacturing: Finance Minister

While holding a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the country’s economic direction is gradually improving and encouraging progress is being seen in various sectors. He said that the reform process is continuing, while both remittances and exports have recorded an increase.

According to the Finance Minister, a 5 percent growth in overall exports is a positive indicator for the country’s economic activities, while the revival of the manufacturing sector is also an important part of economic stability.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the reduction in the policy rate has had a significant positive impact on the government’s debt repayments. He said that continuous improvement is being seen in the IT sector and the government is encouraging the private sector to create new energy in the economy.

The Finance Minister said that the importance of climate financing has increased further and the government is working on various measures in this regard.

He further said that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, a summary for abolishing the export development surcharge has been sent to the cabinet, which will provide more convenience to exporters.

Muhammad Aurangzeb also expressed confidence that Pakistan will soon issue Panda Bonds, which will provide new opportunities for foreign investment.

The Finance Minister said that an important meeting regarding the NFC Award is expected next week, in which important decisions related to revenue sharing and financial structure will be taken.
