PSDP 2025-26 will be a source of employment, regional equality, and poverty reduction: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD— Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2025-26 will play an important role in creating employment opportunities, reducing poverty, and improving regional balance in Pakistan.

He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting on PSDP, which was attended by the ministers of planning, economic affairs, food and security, and relevant senior officials. A detailed briefing was given in the meeting on the ongoing development projects of the Planning Commission, the targets of the next financial year, and financial challenges.

On this occasion, Ishaq Dar directed that the PSDP be aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of “Udan Pakistan” to create coherence in the development agenda. He said that priority would be given to projects in sectors like energy, transport, water, agriculture, technology, and CPEC Phase 2.

The meeting emphasized empowering less developed areas, increasing national production, and effective use of public-private partnerships. A special subcommittee was also formed to review the planning in the context of the current financial situation.
