The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a significant decline on Tuesday. The benchmark KSE-100 index closed at 177955 points after falling 2546 points. This is a decline of about 1.4%.

The market showed a positive trend in the opening of business. The KSE-100 index initially reached a level of 180602 points. However, selling pressure increased later.

Political developments were also one of the reasons for the market weakness. The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the transfer of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. The court also directed the formation of a medical board for medical examination and treatment.

However, according to market experts, linking the downturn only to local political news does not give the full picture. Investors’ concerns have also increased globally.

Uncertainty regarding the future of the ceasefire between the US and Iran has added pressure to global markets. At the same time, crude oil prices have increased for the third consecutive day.

Rising prices in the global energy market are important for an import-intensive country like Pakistan. Expensive oil can increase pressure on import bills and external accounts.

Investors in the local stock market also adopted a cautious attitude. Some stocks increased their sales to take profits, which put pressure on the index.

More than one billion shares were traded in the market on Tuesday. The total trading value remained above Rs 50 billion.

Market capitalization also declined significantly. According to available market data, the total value decreased by about Rs 292 billion to Rs 19.906 trillion.

The current trend of the market shows that local investors are closely watching both the global situation and political developments. Oil prices and regional developments will remain key factors in determining the market direction in the coming sessions.
