Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visited Bangladesh and held meetings with top military leadership including the Bangladesh Army Chief. According to the ISPR, the purpose of the meetings was to give a more effective shape to defense cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting reviewed the global and regional security environment and agreed to give new dimensions to mutual defence cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction that positive progress has been seen in the defense sector in recent years.
According to the ISPR, the two sides also emphasised the need to increase mutual cooperation in joint training projects, military exercises and exchange of anti-terrorism experiences. In addition, concern was expressed over the growing challenges of misinformation and disinformation campaigns, and it was agreed to combat them through a joint strategy.
The leadership also expressed its determination to continue high-level visits while maintaining bilateral relations on a strong foundation.
