Islamabad: On the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, President Asif Ali Zardari said that the nation salutes the 22 Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives against the Dogra Raj on July 13, 1931.

He said that these great sacrifices fueled the spirit of the Kashmiris in the struggle for freedom, and today’s resistance is a continuation of these sacrifices. The President said in his statement that India has turned occupied Kashmir into a military prison where the Kashmiri people are facing extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations.

He clarified that Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris. President Asif Ali Zardari urged the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take notice of Indian atrocities and take serious steps to ensure Kashmiris have their right to self-determination.
