Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on his return from Turkey, signed defense and economic agreements

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif returned to Islamabad on Thursday night after a successful visit to Turkey. During the visit, a number of agreements were signed between the two countries, including on defense cooperation and economic partnership.

Addressing a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, “Pakistan appreciates Turkey’s continued support in the fight against terrorism and on the Kashmir issue. He described relations between the two Islamic countries as “time-tested.”

The Turkish president said that Turkey fully supports Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism. Emphasizing deepening economic cooperation, he said that this relationship will be even stronger in the future.

The Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensure delivery of assistance. According to sources, it was also agreed to expand cultural exchange programs during the visit.
