Privatization of PIA will be live-streamed: PM Shahbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while chairing a high-level meeting on the issue of privatization of the national airline Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), directed that the privatization process should be carried out with complete transparency and it should be broadcast live so that the people gain confidence. The meeting discussed in detail the possible auction of the national airline, its duration, and its terms.

The Prime Minister gave clear instructions that the process of privatization of all government institutions will be broadcast directly on TV and digital platforms in the future. So that there is no room for any doubt. He added that roadshows should be held before the privatization process to take investors into confidence and send a positive message internationally.

According to the briefing given at the meeting, an integrated and complete strategy has been set up in collaboration with an international consultant, which is being implemented rapidly. The Prime Minister also emphasized ensuring that all phases of privatization are completed within the given time frame to prevent the process from being delayed.
