PTI Unilaterally Ends Talks, Says Govt Negotiation Committee Spokesperson

Islamabad: Senator Irfan Siddiqui, spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee, expressed surprise over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) sudden decision to end talks unilaterally.

Speaking to a private news channel, Irfan Siddiqui said that the abrupt move was unexpected not only for the committee but also for PTI itself. He revealed that Barrister Gohar announced the decision to terminate negotiations from Adiala Jail.

According to Barrister Gohar, PTI’s founder has made it clear that there is no room left for further talks. Furthermore, Sahibzada Hamid Raza reportedly used the phrase “absolutely not” regarding any future discussions.

Siddiqui emphasized that the government remains committed to following the pre-agreed terms and conditions for the talks. “We cannot respond or announce anything before January 28. As per the agreed declaration, no response or announcement on the commission will be made within seven days,” he stated.

The spokesperson criticized PTI for making a mockery of the committee’s Terms of Reference (TORs). “We are not here to be part of a spectacle. We are prepared for the meeting scheduled on January 28,” he affirmed.
