JUI announces protest movement against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government after eid ul azha

Peshawar: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has announced it will launch a protest movement after Eid-ul-Azha against the policies and alleged corruption of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The first meeting of this movement will be held on June 29 in Battagram under the leadership of party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Maulana Fazlur Rehman attended the meeting held in Peshawar, and the performance, scandals, and bills of the provincial government were discussed in detail.

The meeting expressed serious concerns over the Kohistan corruption case, solarization project, and wheat scandal. The Mines and Minerals Bill was termed an attack on provincial autonomy, while the Underage Marriage Bill was rejected as contrary to Sharia. BRT, Malam Jabba, and Billion Tree projects were also criticized. Objections were also raised in the meeting over the Rs 50 million released to the Lahore High Court Bar. The statement said that the government is pursuing anti-people policies; now is the time to raise its voice for the protection of public rights.
