Pakistan and IMF talks, discuss budget targets and energy reforms

Islamabad: Pakistan’s talks with the IMF are going to be held once again in the next two days, where important points related to the budget will be discussed.

According to government sources, progress is being made on important issues such as expected tax revenue from various sectors, defense spending, subsidy volume, and carbon levy.

Energy sector reforms and electricity tariffs are also part of the negotiations. Talks on providing relief to the salaried class are likely to be fruitful next week. Talks are also ongoing with the IMF on import policies related to industrial, agricultural, and auto sectors, where the government intends to ensure the protection of local industry.
