Milestone in the military history of Pakistan: General Asim Munir was awarded the baton of Field Marshal

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have conferred the honorary rank of field marshal on Chief of Army Staff General Asim Muneer.

The ceremony was attended by foreign diplomats, high civil and military officials, members of parliament, chief ministers, and governors of the four provinces. The award is a recognition of the leadership, sacrifices, and exceptional service of Pakistan’s military leadership.

President Asif Ali Zardari, in his address, said that the award of field marshal to Asim Munir is a proud moment for the nation. He said that our desire for peace should not be considered a weakness; our forces have always been at the forefront of the enemy.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the historic and decisive victory against the enemy is a testament to the bravery and leadership of our military leadership. He said that General Asim Munir guided the country in the most difficult circumstances and the entire nation reposed full faith in his leadership.

PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, members of the federal cabinet, and service chiefs attended the ceremony.

This honor is not only a recognition of General Asim Munir’s personal abilities. It is also a manifestation of Pakistan’s defense prowess, national integration, and global recognition of its strong military leadership.
