14 million pending cases in Pakistan, arbitration law to be presented in parliament soon

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Civil Commercial Mediation Program, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that the number of pending cases in Pakistan has exceeded 14 million, which is a dangerous situation. He said that at such a time, mediation is the only method that will not only reduce the burden on the courts but also provide speedy justice to the people.

The Law Minister said that in our social culture, there has been a tradition of resolving disputes through Jirga or Panchayat, on this basis, the concept of mediation is being promoted. According to him, Justice Shahid Waheed rightly said that through mediation, the case ends happily and with mutual consent.

Azam Nazir Tarar said that the Law and Justice Commission has made several recommendations in this regard and the government is trying to implement them seriously. He said that a new law for resolving cases through mediation will be presented in the parliament very soon so that effective and timely justice can be provided to the people.
