Afghan stronghold and Indian patronage behind terrorism, DG ISPR

Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that terrorism has no colour, no shade and no justification; the state of Pakistan is determined to completely eliminate terrorism.

In a media briefing, he said that Afghanistan has become a stronghold of terrorist organisations, from where operations against Pakistan are being organised. According to him, the Afghan Taliban did not fulfil the promises made in the Doha agreement; neither terrorism was stopped nor women’s education was ensured.

The DG ISPR said that 1,557 terrorist incidents took place in Balochistan during 2025, while only 29 incidents were reported in the rest of the country.

He gave examples of the Jafar Express, the Nushki bus attack and attacks on FC headquarters, saying that Afghan terrorists were involved in all these incidents.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that every terrorist seen on the border is killed. In April, 71 terrorists were killed, while dozens of infiltrators were killed in Hassan Khel and other areas.

He rejected the allegations regarding the use of drones and quadcopters, saying that the army completely avoids collateral damage, while terrorists use mosques and the population as shields.

He said that there is consensus among all political parties on the National Action Plan, but some provincial governments are opposing practical steps.

According to him, if a military operation is not carried out, what is the alternative? Bowing down to terrorists is not acceptable in any case.

The DG ISPR emphasised that the national war against terrorism has to be fought together and won.

He said that illegal weapons, drugs and smuggling are the backbone of terrorism, against which the state is taking action indiscriminately.

He concluded by saying that there will be no compromise on Pakistan’s security, the truth will prevail, and the nation should be proud of this war.
