Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar has said that Sohail Afridi is not named in any of the May 9 cases, while there is no clear evidence yet regarding the location of the video that emerged in the forensic report.
Talking to the media, Barrister Gohar said that there should be no politics on a sensitive issue like terrorism and full implementation of the National Action Plan is in the interest of the country. He categorically said that TTP is a terrorist organization and a soft corner for terrorists at any level is unacceptable.
Referring to Sohail Afridi’s visit to Karachi, he said that the Sindh government initially allowed the rally but later changed its attitude and the routes were closed on the way back, which is against democratic values.
According to Barrister Gohar, during Sohail Afridi’s visit to Karachi, the people expressed their solidarity peacefully and no harm was done, which is proof that the people are politically conscious.
Speaking on parliamentary matters, he said that the seat of the opposition leader has been vacant for several months and all opposition parties have agreed on the name of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, which will improve the atmosphere of parliamentary confidence.
According to political experts, the emergence of a unified candidate of the opposition in the current political environment is a positive development towards the stability of the parliament, which is necessary for institutional balance.
Emphasizing on negotiations, Barrister Gohar said that the solution to political problems is only in political dialogue. He regretted that despite repeated efforts to meet, the paths are being blocked.
Speaking on party matters, he clarified that the post of chairman has been given to him as a trust and the real authority lies with the founding chairman.
