Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, has said that cooperation between the judiciary and the legal community will be ensured at all costs. He said that the bench and the bar are inseparable pillars of the justice system and for an effective judicial system, the harmony of both is inevitable.
He said this during a meeting with a delegation of the Sindh High Court Bar. The Chief Justice clarified that model criminal trial courts are being set up to provide timely justice and timelines are being fixed for the decisions of 13 types of cases.
He said that solarization and e-libraries are being introduced for the bars so that professional standards can be improved with modern facilities. Guidelines have been issued to the high courts to protect the judiciary from external pressure.
The Chief Justice said that the judicial mediation system has now taken an institutional form, while a high-level committee has also been formed to set the standards for recruitment and training of the district judiciary.
He said that a special committee has also been formed for institutional response regarding enforced disappearances. The Chief Justice assured the delegation that the problems of the bar will be resolved on priority basis and the suggestions of the lawyers will be listened to seriously.
On this occasion, the President of the Sindh High Court Bar appealed for the establishment of model civil courts for the early disposal of old civil cases.
