In an effort to maintain market discipline and curb artificial inflation, the Lahore district administration has issued a revised poultry price list for April 8, 2026. The move comes amid rising concerns over inconsistent pricing trends in local markets.
The official notification sets the live broiler chicken rate at Rs. 383 per kilogram, while processed chicken rates vary between Rs. 397 and Rs. 595 per kilogram depending on quality and cut. Authorities believe that regulating these prices will help balance both consumer affordability and supplier margins.
Egg prices have also been standardized, with a carton fixed at Rs. 6990 and a dozen at Rs. 237. This step is expected to bring transparency and prevent unjustified hikes in essential food commodities.
Officials have emphasized that price control magistrates will actively monitor implementation across Lahore. Vendors found violating the notified rates may face penalties under relevant laws.
The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s ongoing commitment to consumer protection and fair market practices, ensuring that essential food items remain accessible to the general public.
