This year, Eid al-Fitr is likely to be sighted on March 21 in Pakistan, while the government has also announced four-day holidays for government employees on the occasion of Eid.
According to the official notification, there will be four-day holidays in government offices and institutions from Friday to Monday.
On the other hand, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting in Islamabad on March 19 regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department Anjum Nazir said that according to astronomical estimates, the chances of seeing the moon on that day are low.
According to him, the moon will be born on March 19 at 6:23 am and its age will be about 12 hours by sunset.
He said that according to astronomical principles, the moon needs to be at least 14 hours old to be seen clearly, so it is likely that the Shawwal moon will be seen the next day and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 21.
