Excise department has decided to blacklist defaulting vehicles

The Excise and Transport Department has started strict action against citizens violating traffic rules and not submitting e-challans.

According to department sources, vehicles with 25 or more e-challans will now be blacklisted. Earlier, in the first phase, action was taken against vehicle owners with 50 e-challans, while in the third phase, citizens with 10 e-challans will also be targeted.

Officials say that blacklisted vehicles will not only be confiscated but also their registration, token tax and transfer will be banned.

Special teams have been formed in major cities including Lahore, which are identifying defaulting vehicles with the help of modern cameras.

According to the Excise Department, citizens were warned several times, but many owners did not pay their e-challans. Citizens have been appealed to submit their e-challans on time to avoid legal action.
