The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an increase in the number of teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from 6 to 8. According to board sources, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the valuation of franchises and the promotion of cricket in new cities.
Recently, after completing the valuation of the old franchises, the PCB had proposed the names of six cities for the two new teams: Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit and Rawalpindi. According to reports, the names of Faisalabad and Gilgit have been finalised, and these two cities will now represent the new franchises.
According to cricket experts, the inclusion of new teams will help make the competition in the league more interesting and standard. Along with this, the number of cricket fans in different cities of Pakistan is also expected to increase, which reflects the increasing quality and attractiveness of the league.
