The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has warned citizens against a fake online scheme in which a fraudster has entered fake information in the name of the office on Google Maps.
According to the department, the said person has entered a fake phone number and email address and falsely claimed to receive money through Jazz Cash and bank accounts.
The DGIP has clarified that no person is allowed to receive payment from the passport office through personal means.
The agency has requested the public to protect their personal information and avoid making payments to any unauthorised person.
The advisory states:
“Beware! Do not share your personal details or make payments to unauthorised persons.”
It was further stated that for official guidance, citizens should contact the DGIP helpline at 051-111-344-777.
Citizens can get verified information through the official website www.dgip.gov.pk
or the social media handle @dgipofficial.
The department thanked the public and said that it would continue its fraud prevention and public awareness initiatives.
