Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has stated that the inquiry against Hussain Nawaz was initiated by Shahzad Akbar, and it was Akbar himself who fell into this trap. Tarar further asserted that the PTI’s demand for an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) could not be fulfilled.

Speaking in the Senate session, Tarar explained that the Cabinet had approved the closed envelope, describing the 190 million-pound case as an “open and shut transaction,” implying that there was no complexity in the case that needed further scrutiny.

Tarar criticized PTI leaders, pointing out the contradiction in their stance. He remarked that these individuals had previously proclaimed they would never give an NRO, yet now they were demanding it.

Further elaborating on the PTI’s demands, Tarar said that the party had requested the release of individuals jailed for terrorism or corruption through an executive order. However, he made it clear that this was not possible, emphasizing that the proper legal procedure was to go through the courts.

The Federal Law Minister also mentioned that negotiations were ongoing with PTI and that the party had been asked to submit their demands in writing, which had not yet been provided.

Azam Nazir Tarar also addressed the issue of the property tycoon’s penalty account, stating that money had been placed in the account by the Supreme Court on the request of the PDM, with the funds subsequently moved to the State Bank account. He criticized those who used religion as a shield to justify corruption, highlighting that such actions were not acceptable.
