Christmas festivity all over the globe is ongoing and there are special prayers and functions in different countries. In Vatican City, an emotional intercessory prayer was said; Pope Francis shed light on helplessness in the world; wars persisting, and endangered children. He said bombs are being dropped on schools, and hospitals, still he called on the people not to give up since it was a hard situation.
In England, Princess Kate Middleton presided over the Christmas service at the Westminster Abbey which was treated to world television having been recorded on December 6. In Beijing, a prayer service was conducted in Church of the Saviour while in Damascus, Syrians went to churches to pray for peace.
Across the Pakistan, people from the Christian faith enjoyed their Christmas with equal energy and spirit. A special Christmas service was conducted in Karachi in St Patrick’s Church and people prayed for the prosperity as well as security of the country. In Lahore, a 100-pound cake was cut on the occasion at St. Luke’s Church to celebrate the blessed event A special prayer service was also held on the occasion at St Dominic’s Church, Bahawalpur.
During the Sargodha church, Faisalabad church and Gujranwala church also conducted prayer services, while St Francis Church in Hyderabad remained in its trend of special prayers and distributing sweets to the masses. Sukkur churches also carry out cake-cutting programs and in Peshawer there was a Prayer Event in St John’s Cathedral.
As for this year’s celebrations in Quetta, various churches celebrated Christmas and all the major cities had increased security measures to protect the participants. It was also significant that the joyous festivities around the world also recalled the message of togetherness in the middle of turmoil.
