Lahore: (Web Desk) The Punjab government has taken a revolutionary step to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle and make Lahore green. On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has launched the “Plant for Pakistan” campaign, under which citizens can now order free plants at their homes on a single call.
This is the first campaign of its kind, for which a helpline, 1399, has been established. Citizens will call this number and register their identity and address, after which the PHA’s financially selected plant will be delivered to the citizen’s home.
17 types of plants available
According to DGPHA Mansoor Ahmed, fruit-bearing, fragrant, and shade-bearing plants are being provided under the campaign, including
Fruit-bearing: Mango, Pomegranate, Jamun, Mulberry
Fragrant: Raat Ki Rani, Gulchen, Har Sanghar
Shade-bearing and others: Neem, Pulkan, Patajan, Chandna, Vew, Kachnar, Amaltas, Tapiobia, Jurufa, Washingtonia Palm
The DGPHA said:
“Delivering plants to every household is a people-friendly step, which will not only lead to environmental improvement but will also attract the public towards tree plantation.”
This initiative can become an exemplary example not only for Lahore but also for other cities, which is a major step towards a green environment and environmental protection.
