Islamabad: Is the government bringing relief to the people on June 1 or another inflation storm before the budget? This is the question that is circulating across the country. The attention of the people worried about inflation is now completely focused on the announcement of new prices of petroleum products.
According to media reports, a reduction of 60 paise in the price of petrol and 28 paise per liter in diesel is being considered. Sources say that the prices will be decided considering the global market and the country’s financial situation. According to some reports, the government may slightly increase the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil, but nothing is final yet.
The Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister are considering whether to maintain the prices or make minor changes. The aim is to avoid any major financial shock before the budget.
OGRA reviews petroleum prices every two weeks, and this time too the same process is underway. Although the proposed reduction is very small, it is no less than a blessing for the common citizen.
Now the eyes of the public are fixed on June 1. It remains to be seen whether the government will deliver any good news or add another burden to this season of inflation.
