The weather across the country has once again taken a dangerous turn, after which the NDMA has issued a nationwide alert in view of the risks of heavy rains, wind, hailstorms, snowfall and flash floods.
According to the NDMA, rain and strong winds will continue in most areas in the next 12 to 24 hours, while snowfall has been predicted in the northern areas. There is a risk of road closures and landslides in the mountainous areas of Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Astore, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad and Swat.
Similarly, local flooding is likely to occur due to overflowing of rainwater in D.G. Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Karak, Waziristan and Charsadda.
Waterlogging, traffic jams and power supply disruptions are also expected in urban areas, especially in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi and Multan.
The NDMA has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from weak buildings, trees and power lines and check the weather and road conditions before travelling to mountainous areas.
