Lahore: The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced it will expand the scope of its campaign against air pollution in Lahore and include heavy vehicles in the emission testing program.
According to officials, 158,000 vehicles have been inspected so far in this campaign, which started in May 2025, out of which only 4,100 vehicles failed to meet environmental standards.
The EPA has extended the free testing date to August 31. After that, testing will be with a fee. The number of testing booths has been reduced from 26 to 20 to make the campaign effective.
According to reports, 83 percent of the smog in Lahore is caused by vehicle emissions. In the next phase, heavy vehicles will be closely monitored, and vehicles without certificates will be given a week to complete the documents.
