The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has submitted its annual report based on the latest details of the country’s registered population to the Ministry of Interior. According to a statement released by NADRA spokesperson, the total number of regularly registered citizens in Pakistan has currently reached 227 million. The report states that as a result of NADRA’s tireless efforts, 97 percent of Pakistan’s population has now become part of the official record, which is a major achievement for any developing country.

According to the data, the gender ratio among the registered persons has also been clarified, with 52 percent men and 48 percent women. NADRA has recorded an overall increase of 11 percent in the registration process during the past year. In particular, there has been a significant increase of 8 percent in the registration of women and 18 percent in the registration of children. However, an important point has also come to light: although there is a registration of 31.9 million births at the level of union councils, these children are yet to be registered in NADRA’s central database.

NADRA has expanded its network to 938 registration centres across the country. During the year 2025 alone, 75 new centres and 138 new counters were established so that citizens can get facilities at their doorsteps. The spokesperson clarified that NADRA is no longer just an organisation that produces identity cards but has become one of the world’s most advanced digital databases, which is playing a key role in the country’s planning.
