US President Donald Trump has announced the strongest military action against Iran and has completely blocked Iranian shipping lanes.
In a statement on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’, President Trump said in no uncertain terms that if any Iranian ship enters the US blockade, it will be immediately targeted.
He claimed that the Iranian navy is now a thing of the past and the US has already destroyed 158 Iranian ships.
According to the US Central Command, the blockade covers the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
Officials say that every ship entering or leaving Iranian ports will be closely monitored and ships can be seized if they move without permission. However, under international law, neutral ships and humanitarian aid will be allowed to pass after being searched.
