Iran’s top leadership has reacted strongly to the threats made by US President Donald Trump and made it clear that the Iranian nation cannot be intimidated by any kind of pressure or threats.

Secretary General of Iran’s National Security Council Ali Larijani said in his statement that a nation that loves Ashura and the philosophy of sacrifice cannot be swayed by empty threats.

Addressing US President Donald Trump, he said that in the past, many people had claimed to destroy or weaken the Iranian nation, but they failed in their ambitions.

Ali Larijani said that history is witness that Iran has always faced pressure and difficulties with steadfastness and the nation will continue to stand with the same determination to protect its sovereignty in the future.

He warned the US President that one should think before making such statements because threats made in the name of force can sometimes create problems for those who make them.

The Iranian leader also spoke about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and said that this important sea route is an important source of trade and energy supply for the world.

He said that the Strait of Hormuz can either become a corridor of prosperity and economic activities for all countries, or it can cause difficulties and failure for those forces that want to take the path of war and tension.

Ali Larijani said that Iran wants peace and stability in the region, however, if someone takes the path of aggression, Iran will take all possible steps to defend its interests.

According to analysts, the escalating war of words between Iran and the United States could further escalate existing tensions in the region, while the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is also important for global energy markets.
