Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan held talks with Afghan officials for peace at the request of brotherly countries, but some Afghan statements indicate that the thinking of the Taliban leadership is distorted. He warned that the limit of tolerance has now been reached.
Asif made it clear that Pakistan does not feel the need to use its full power, but if necessary, it can bring the situation to Tora Bora-like scenes — a scenario that has been seen in military operations in the past. He said that the Taliban government is pushing Afghanistan towards destruction again.
The minister alleged that the Afghan Taliban are running a “war economy” in an effort to maintain their illegal power, which is based only on destruction and bloodshed. He said that the Taliban are raising war slogans to hide their weakness, but their threats are more of a spectacle than reality.
Khawaja Asif said in strong words that Pakistan will not tolerate any terrorist or suicide attack and the response to any kind of adventure will be “stern and bitter”. He warned the Taliban leaders to be mindful of their fate or else testing Pakistan’s resolve and capabilities will prove costly.
