The provincial government has announced five consecutive holidays in the beginning of February, giving great good news to the citizens. According to the official schedule, government institutions in Lahore will remain closed from February 4 to February 8, combining religious, national and cultural occasions, which will give the citizens a long break.
According to the announcement, February 4 will be a holiday due to Shab-e-Barat, while February 5 will be an official holiday in Lahore like the rest of the country on the occasion of Kashmir Day. After this, Basant celebrations will be held in the city on February 6, 7 and 8, as a result of which activities in educational institutions, offices and other government centers will remain suspended.
Officials say that the aim of this decision is to provide peace of mind and entertainment opportunities to the public so that people can spend time with their families and participate fully in the cultural activities of the city. The Basant festival will once again fill the air of Lahore with colorful kites and happiness.
According to the district administration, special arrangements are being made during the festival. Security personnel, rescue services and municipal institutions will be on high alert to provide a safe environment to the citizens. Keeping in mind the accidents that have occurred in the past, safety measures and rules and regulations related to kite flying will be strictly implemented.
The administration further says that Basant is not just a recreational activity but is part of Lahore’s cultural identity, hence a comprehensive strategy has been prepared to celebrate it in an organized and safe manner. Celebrations, music events and community programs are also being organized in different areas so that the people can celebrate in a positive way.
Appreciating the government’s decision, citizens have said that the long holidays will not only provide a break from daily routines but will also provide an opportunity to share happiness with family and friends. The people hope that this time Basant will be celebrated in a peaceful and memorable manner.
