Due to inflation and rising prices of petroleum products, Lahore Traffic Police has announced an important relief package for the citizens.
On the instructions of Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, the Traffic Police has been ordered not to issue challans for rickshaws, motorcycles and loader rickshaws till Eid.
According to traffic officials, the aim of this decision is to provide some convenience to the citizens during the rising inflation so that they can meet their daily needs on the occasion of Eid without additional financial burden.
Officials say that in recent months, the prices of petroleum products have been continuously increasing, due to which the travel expenses of ordinary citizens have also increased.
In this context, the traffic police have not only decided to relax the challan but have also introduced several measures to reduce the consumption of petrol.
According to the traffic police, if the prices of petrol increase further, officers and officials will patrol on motorcycles instead of official vehicles.
Moreover, traffic police vehicles on the roads will not be allowed to be started and parked unnecessarily so as to reduce fuel wastage.
Officials say that if petrol prices increase further, a plan to patrol on bicycles is also under consideration in the next phase.
The traffic police have appealed to the citizens to avoid using unnecessary vehicles and if possible, opt for alternative means of transport.
According to officials, in the current situation, saving fuel is necessary not only for government institutions but also for the public so that the increasing economic pressure can be reduced.
