The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to withdraw the ongoing delimitation schedule for local body elections in Punjab.
According to sources, the commission has taken this decision after the approval of the new Local Body Law in the Punjab Assembly, under which the notification of delimitation issued under the old law has now become ineffective.
It may be recalled that the Election Commission had issued the delimitation schedule on October 8 during the hearing of the case related to the delay in local body elections in Punjab and had announced to hold the elections in the last week of December.
However, after the implementation of the new law, the Election Commission will now issue a new delimitation and election schedule again.
