Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has decided to make a major change in the passport details and decided that now the name of the mother will also be included in new and renewed Pakistani passports along with the father.

According to a spokesperson for the Directorate General of Passports and Immigration, this step has been taken to create harmony in accordance with international standards and keeping in mind modern social requirements. The spokesperson said that many developed countries already include the mother’s name in official travel documents, so Pakistan has also taken steps in the same direction.

Officials believe that this decision will bring more transparency in the identification of Pakistani citizens and will also improve the acceptance of Pakistani passports at the international level.

This decision will not only be applicable to newly issued passports, but also the mother’s name will be included in the documents of citizens who are renewing their old passports.

This move is being considered a positive and far-reaching decision, which will further strengthen the identity and travel facilities of citizens.
