Maryam Nawaz makes a big announcement for flood victims and directs to speed up relief operations

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the flood situation and relief activities, in which she appreciated the performance of the administration and rescue agencies.

It was informed in the meeting that the situation in various districts of Punjab had become serious due to continuous rains and the release of water by India. However, as a result of timely measures, 600,000 people and 450,000 cattle were shifted from the affected areas to safe places. The commissioners and deputy commissioners performed excellently during this time.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed that advance evacuation should be ensured in view of the threat of floods in more districts. She said that relief operations should be made more effective in Multan, Okara, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, and other districts.

She said that the affected areas should be identified through drones so that relief and rescue activities could be started immediately. He said that thousands of lives were saved due to the timely steps taken by the PDMA.

The Chief Minister further said that in the first phase of the flood, success was achieved in rescuing people; now the second phase is starting, in which top priority will be given to drainage and restoration of the communication system.

CM Maryam Nawaz stressed that no affected person should feel alone; the government will provide help to every needy person. She directed the administration to provide clean water, food, and medicines to the affected immediately, and if necessary, the affected families should also be given temporary shelter in school buildings.
