Matches in India or points deduction? Bangladesh’s categorical message to ICC

The Bangladesh Cricket Board and the government have made it clear to the ICC, despite its pressure to hold matches in India, that national interest and the lives of players are the top priority. According to Sports Advisor Dr Asif Nazral, a written response will be given to the ICC soon.

Dr Asif Nazral said that the ICC ignored the security threats faced by Bangladeshi players in India. According to him, if security is not assured, the game is not possible, whatever the results.

He pointed out that the Indian Cricket Board’s admission of not providing security to Mustafizur Rahman is a serious warning that cannot be ignored.

On the other hand, media reports are saying that the ICC has rejected the proposal to shift the matches to a third country, and Bangladesh has been warned that non-participation may result in loss of points.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam said that government approval is required for foreign tours, and the board will follow the decision taken by the government in the current situation.

According to sports analysts, this dispute has become a test case for global cricket governance. Experts say that after Pakistan and India refused to tour each other in the Champions Trophy, the ICC will have to seriously consider a permanent solution for neutral and safe venues; otherwise, such disputes will continue to arise again and again.
