The Punjab government has decided to increase the fares of the Metro bus service due to rising operational costs.
According to officials, the Metro Bus fare was earlier Rs 30, which has been increased to Rs 40.
The new fare will be effective from March 26, 2026 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Multan.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, the cost of the Metro Bus service has increased significantly due to the increase in the prices of petroleum products, after which a change in the fare structure became inevitable.
According to the authority, a subsidy will be provided to T-Cash card holders to provide relief to passengers.
Under this scheme, passengers using T-Cash cards will be able to get tickets for Rs 25, which will give them a discount of Rs 15.
Officials say that the aim of this move is to provide maximum convenience to passengers while keeping the Metro Bus service financially stable.
