Mohsin Naqvi seeks comprehensive reform plan for FIA reorganization

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the FIA headquarters on Monday, where he visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid flowers, and offered Fateha.

On this occasion, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Interior Minister in which Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Interior Secretary, the Chairman of the CDA, and senior officers of the FIA participated.

In the meeting, the Federal Interior Minister, while seeking a modern and effective plan for the reorganization of FIA, expressed his determination to align the institution with contemporary requirements. He directed that the process of necessary amendments in the laws and rules should be started immediately to make the FIA more functional.

Mohsin Naqvi also approved the provision of modern technology, necessary equipment, and weapons for the FIA. He clarified that the performance of the institution will be the reason for additional incentives for it.

He said,

“The FIA has to live up to the public trust, elements involved in illegal immigration should be dealt with with an iron hand, and a zero-tolerance policy should be adopted.”

The Interior Minister directed that the immigration process at airports should be made easy and effective so that citizens can be provided with convenience. In this regard, the establishment of fast-track counters was also ordered.

During the meeting, instructions were also issued to modernize the FIA training curriculum and immediately fill vacant posts. Mohsin Naqvi, while seeking a master plan for the repair and renovation of the FIA headquarters building, also approved the transfer of the FIA Academy to the newly allocated land.

In addition, orders were also issued for the early restoration of the Karachi Zonal Office, while the DG FIA gave a detailed briefing to the Interior Minister on the ongoing reform measures in the institution.
