Karachi: According to astronomers, the moon will be born on August 23 at 11:06 am. After the moon’s birth, its age should be at least 29 hours so that it can be easily seen on the horizon. This time, the moon will be 32 hours and 17 minutes old on the evening of August 24, which further increases the chances of sighting.

The Meteorological Department said in its report that the weather in most cities of the country, including Karachi, is likely to be partly cloudy or completely clear, due to which the chances of sighting the crescent are quite high. According to experts, the moon will remain on the horizon for about 44 minutes after sunset, which is the right time to see the moon.

Rabi-ul-Awwal is a month in Islamic history that is celebrated with devotion and respect, because it was in this month that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born. Special processions, Milad gatherings and lighting of lamps are specially organized in Pakistan on this occasion.

The Ruet-ul-Hilal Committee will collect testimonies from across the country on the evening of August 24 and will officially announce after Maghrib prayer when the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal will begin. According to all evidence, Rabi-ul-Awwal is expected to begin on August 25 this year.
