The Punjab government has fixed new official prices of flour and bread to provide relief to the common man from inflation. A formal notification of this decision has been issued.
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, while announcing this development on the social media platform ‘X’, said that the government has taken this important step to control inflation.
Details of the new prices
According to the notification issued:
The price of a 10 kg bag of flour has been fixed at Rs 905.
The price of a 20 kg bag of flour has been fixed at Rs 1810.
The official price of bread has been fixed at Rs 14.
Uzma Bukhari said that the government will never tolerate any illegal increase in the prices of flour and bread under the guise of floods. She further said that after the notification, the new prices will be strictly implemented and strict action will be taken against violators.
The public has welcomed this decision, however, questions are being raised about its effective implementation. According to economic experts, although the government’s fixing of prices is a positive step, it has been seen in the past that despite the official prices, goods have been sold at high prices in the market.
This decision is a big test for the government to see to what extent it can implement it. If this notification remains just a paper process, its benefits will not reach the public, but if prices are truly controlled, it will be a great relief for the common citizens.
