Pakistan and India exchanged prisoner lists at the start of the new year, which was confirmed by Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi in his weekly briefing.
According to the spokesperson, prisoner lists are exchanged twice a year under an agreement between the two countries, under which Pakistan handed over the list of 257 Indian prisoners to Indian authorities.
Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that in the same vein, on January 1, Pakistan and India also exchanged lists of nuclear installations, which is part of confidence-building measures.
Pakistan’s position on global affairs
The Foreign Office spokesperson clarified that Pakistan welcomes regional efforts to normalise the situation in Yemen and will continue to support a peaceful, negotiated and diplomatic solution to the Yemeni conflict.
He said that Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq represented Pakistan at the funeral prayers of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and also offered condolences to the family.
